12 Princess Diana’s Best Jewelry – Where Are They Now?

Hello dear friends. Today we will continue the theme of royal jewelry, so today we are waiting for 12 of the most beloved, famous and significant jewelry of Princess Diana and tell you who they now belong to.

1. Necklace with the initial D

As a teenager, Lady Diana Spencer often wore a D necklace, as seen in a photo taken during her time at Pimlico Kindergarten. Later, when she was married to Prince Charles, she often wore the same pendant but on a stronger choker.

Where is it now?

A private buyer bought the pendant at auction for around £7,000. His identity remains a mystery to this day.

2. Engagement ring with blue sapphire.

This iconic ring boasts an enormous oval-cut blue sapphire surrounded by 14 diamond solitaires. It is set in 18 carat white gold.

Where is it now?

According to her will, Princess Diana left an engagement ring to her youngest son, Prince Harry. But his older brother, Prince William, was the first of the two to get engaged. So Harry generously gave the ring to his brother. That’s why Prince William’s wife Catherine, the Duchess of Cambridge (née Kate Middleton), now wears this ring as an engagement ring.

3. Saudi sapphire pendant

A set of Saudi blue sapphire jewelry was a wedding gift to Princess Diana from the Saudi royal family. It was designed to complement Diana’s blue sapphire engagement ring and she wore it frequently throughout her marriage.

Where is he now?

It is believed, but not confirmed, that William gave his mother’s sapphire set to his wife, Kate Middleton, and she had it redesigned into a more refined collection of sapphires to match her style.

She was seen wearing an updated headset at a state meeting with Prince William, the president and first lady of Ukraine.

4. Collingwood pearl earrings.

These earrings were given to Diana for her wedding by the jewelers of the Spencer family, Collingwood. They have a classic design and Diana has worn them many times, including with the Knots of Love tiara.

The last time the princess wore these earrings was in 1994, the same night that Prince Charles confessed to his affair with Camilla Parker-Bowles.

Where are they now?

In August 2017, the Duchess of Cambridge wore Collingwood pearl earrings to a state banquet in Spain, pairing them with the Knots of Love Tiara, as Diana had done before. Kate also wore them just a few weeks later on a visit to Belgium, which leads us to believe that William must have given them to her.

5. Aquamarine ring

This iconic ring features a rectangular emerald-cut aquamarine. Diana often wore it with an aquamarine and pearl bracelet and necklace. However, the ring does not actually belong to this set. It was actually given to Diana by her best friend Lucia Flescha de Lima. Diana made headlines when she used the ring instead of her blue sapphire engagement ring after her divorce from Prince Charles in 1996.

Where is it now?

After Diana’s death in 1997, the ring passed to Prince Harry. He gave it to his wife Meghan Markle and she wore it to their wedding in 2018.

6. Emerald set

There were only two emerald jewelry in the collection of Princess Diana. One of them was an Art Deco emerald bracelet that Prince Charles gave her for her wedding. The other was a pair of diamond and emerald drop earrings, also given to Princess Diana by her husband for her 22nd birthday. Note that the teardrop-shaped emeralds are surrounded by artificial diamonds!

The third emerald item she often carried with her, an emerald necklace, did not actually belong to Diana, but to the queen.

Where is he now?

The whereabouts of the bracelet and earrings are unknown, but they were presumably given to Harry and William. One day we might be able to see Meghan or Kate wear them. As for the pendant, since it belongs to the Queen, it was given to the collection of the Duchess of Cornwall (née Camilla Parker-Bowles). Camille remade it into a brooch and wore it to a reception on the occasion of Charles’s 50th birthday at Buckingham Palace.

7. Spencer Tiara, Diana’s wedding tiara.

The Spencer tiara dates back to the 18th century. Since it was first given to Lady Sarah Spencer by Viscountess Montagu in 1875, it has been redesigned. When Diana was marrying Charles, the Queen offered to lend her the Queen Mary’s Knots of Love Tiara. But instead, Diana chose to wear her family tiara.

Where is she now?

The tiara is a Spencer family heirloom. Each of Diana’s sisters wore it on their wedding days. Most recently, Diana’s niece, Celia McCorquodale, wore it to her wedding. But the famous model Kitty Spencer, for reasons unknown to us, did not wear this jewelry for her wedding.

8. Butterfly earrings and necklace.

Princess Diana wore a gold butterfly necklace and earrings during her visit to Canada in 1986. The earrings are in the shape of butterflies, and in the center of the necklace there is also a butterfly.

Where are they now?

The set was handed over to Prince Harry, who gave it to his wife Meghan Markle. Shortly after the couple announced they were expecting a baby, Meghan was photographed wearing the earrings in a gesture many considered a tribute to her late mother-in-law.

9. Earrings with pearls.

Pearl earrings were an indispensable attribute of the princess’s jewelry collection. She wore various timeless variations of classic pearl earrings.

Where are they now?

In a special letter that Diana wrote in case of death, she expressed her desire to leave all her jewelry to the future wives of her two sons. The letter says: “I would like you to divide all my jewelry into shares among my sons, so that their wives may eventually receive them and use them.” She added that “I leave the exact division of the decorations up to you.” Therefore, it is believed that her pearl jewelry now also belongs to the two princes and their spouses.

10. Heart earrings

Diana, Britain’s “Queen of Hearts”, loved heart-shaped earrings. She has been seen wearing them in various styles countless times. Her most famous heart earrings were those that had interchangeable diamond and pearl hearts, allowing her to tailor their style to her outfit.

Where are they now?

The whereabouts of Diana’s earrings is unknown, but it is assumed that they are also in the possession of William and Harry, along with her other pieces of jewelry.

11. Diamond ring of eternity.

It was one of the first gifts from Prince Charles to Diana. Later, after her engagement, she often wore it along with her blue sapphire engagement ring.

Where is it now?

The ring has not been seen again since Diana passed away.

12. Set with diamonds Collingwood.

The Collingwoods, the Spencer family jewelers, gave this gorgeous set to Diana temporarily for her official engagement photos. It consists of large diamond earrings and a matching necklace.

Interestingly, Collingwood originally wanted to give this set to Diana as a wedding gift, but the palace rejected it, deeming it too expensive. It was for this reason that Collingwood instead gave Diana the famous diamond and pearl drop earrings.

Where is he now?

Since the set never actually belonged to Diana, neither the royal family nor the Spencers have it now. Probably Collingwood sold the set to someone else.

Here they are, Diana’s jewelry and their history after her. And which of the presented do you like more?
